What is a County Court Judgment (CCJ) and how is it different from a Scottish Decree?

A County Court Judgment (CCJ) is a type of court order in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that might be registered against a company or individual if they fail to repay money that they owe. A Scottish Decree is similar to a CCJ differing only because the applicable law is different in Scotland.

You can apply to a county court to claim money you’re owed by a person or business, and this is known as making a court claim. It often used to be known as taking someone to a ‘small claims court’.
