Portfolio 'Bulk Import' Error: “Error, try again please”
When creating a portfolio using the Bulk Import feature, users may see the following message error message:
“Error, try again, please”
In some cases, the portfolio may not load, and no specific details will be provided about what went wrong
This is usually caused by duplicate company numbers in the file being uploaded.
Why does this happen?
Each company number (regnum) can only appear once in a bulk import file.
If the same regnum appears multiple times — even with different references — the system will not be able to process the file.

In this example, company number 02181671 appears two times. This will trigger the error.
How to resolve the issue
Before uploading your file:
- Make sure each company number appears only once
- Remove any duplicate rows
- Use one reference per company number
Once duplicates are removed, re-upload the file and the portfolio should import successfully.
How to avoid this in future
To prevent this issue:
- Use Excel’s “Remove Duplicates” function on the Company Number column
- Check that all company numbers are unique before uploading
- Review your file for formatting issues prior to import
