SME Type definition
Definition of SME type used in CW platform and Data Search tool based on latest accounts filed
A company will be categorised as a Micro, Small, or Medium entity if it meets any two of the following criteria:
SME Type | Turnover not more than: | Balance sheet total * not more than: | Monthly average number of employees, not more than: |
Medium | £36m | £18m | 250 |
Small |
£10.2m | £5.1m | 50 |
Micro | £632k | £316k | 10 |
*meaning the total of the fixed and current assets
There are some exceptions whereby even though the company figures may fall under Small or Micro Entity, if the company belongs to a group and or has filed their accounts under FrS101 (Audit Requirement) the accounts filed for that company would be deemed as Full and so they would not be marked SME.
