Data Search Bulk Upload Function Overview
User guidance for the bulk upload function available in Data Search from February 2024
The bulk upload function allows a user to provide a 1-column file of values that is uploaded efficiently in the background, enabling the user to continue to use the Data Search until they receive a notification that the process has finished. Their upload file can then be included or excluded from their search criteria.
Once the file has been uploaded, a user is able to use those records uploaded in future Searches, unlike the manual Paste option which they would have to find and paste all over again for another search. They just need to go to the Upload selection and use the Include or Exclude checkbox. A Search can include multiple Uploads
Users are recommended choose this bulk upload function when building a search involving more than 500 entries in a criteria (i.e Company Names). However, this function can be also used for smaller volumes depending on user preference.
Useful information:
- File formats accepted: xlsx, csv, txt. (If you are using txt or csv, you may want to text qualify the values)
- Your file should have one column only with the data you want to include or exclude from your Search
- The file does not need a header row, the first row is treated as a value.
- A single search can use multiple bulk upload files as well as a portfolio (where loaded into Data Search from the Landing Page)
- There is no upload limit however a daily extract limit of 40,000 records will be applied if your search is progressed for extractions
- Users associated to the same account will be able to use the bulk upload files by other users on their account so a clear naming convention for your upload file is recommended.
